CD68 is an intracellular glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 110kD, initially expressed in cells as an intracytoplasmic molecule, related to lysosomes. The antibody detects macrophages in many human tissues, including the spleen, intestinal lamina propria, alveoli and bone marrow, and positive monocytes in peripheral blood, as well as markers of bone marrow precursor cells and peripheral blood granulocytes. It can be used in the differentiation of myeloid leukemia and the study of macrophages. In recent years, CD68 has been reported as a marker of tissue cells.
